As a manufacturer this is the ONLY way to economically
powder paint lures. A fluid bed gently mixes air into
the powder paint inside its upper chamber. This process
eliminates having to stir your paint to keep it from
packing together and is much like dipping into a liquid
paint. Yet the paint is still a powder until it touches
the heated lures which are dipped into it.
Fluidizing creates a much larger "work area" so more
jigs can be dipped at one time. With the FB-12 Fluid
Bed, a manufacturer can paint 140-200 jigs in one dip,
depending on the size of jig being painted. Since the
jigs are already racked, they're simply transferred
into the curing oven, cured for 15 minutes and when
cool, unloaded into the finished pile. Note:
Power paint becomes soft when heated. Always cure by
hanging jigs on the oven rack.
Because a fluid bed makes the powder less dense, a much
lighter coating is achieved without loss of color. This
accomplishes three things. First, it saves money by
reducing material costs. Second, the lighter coating
prevents changes in the action of blades and spoons
which might be caused by heavy or multiple coats of
paint. On jigs the eyes usually stay open and are actually
lightly coated inside. Third, each coat is controlled.
The thickness can be varied two ways, by the temperature
of the lure and the time in the fluid bed.
Ultimately, with all of its advantages, powder paint
is now practical for mass production of high quality
lures.
