> Paint Application Tips
VENTILATION:
Our
liquid paints are extremely flammable. Always be aware
of your surroundings. Extinguish all sources of ignition,
pilot lights, open flame, etc. Ventilate the area where
paint is being used by allowing fresh air to circulate.
Open windows or use an exhaust fan with a motor designed
to be operated in a hazardous atmosphere to avoid any
explosions. For personal protection, we recommend using
a NIOSH/MSHA approved respirator for use with paint
solvents or organic vapors.
SURFACE PREPARATIONS:
All normal surface preparations should be observed.
Paints should be applied between 70-80 degrees F. For
best results work in an area with low humidity. Surface
to be painted should be free of oil, dirt, and moisture.
Remove all release agents from jigs which have been
cast. This can be done by rinsing them in a strong soap
solution or solvent such as acetone. When painting over
highly polished surfaces like nickel, chrome or silver,
the surface must be etched. Use a solution of 10% Nitric
Acid and rinse with warm water, or prime surface wfth
a self-etching primer before using our White Primer.
THINNING:
Paints will appear thick when cold. THIN WITH
CAUTION! First warm paint to room temperature
by placing container in a warm water bath. Next, stir
paint thoroughly with a wooden stir stick, being careful
not to damage can lining. If paint still appears heavy, thin
sparingly with appropriate thinner. lf paint is thinned
too much it will lose its ability to cover.
SPRAYING:
Paints may be thinned 30-50% for spraying. Coverage
will be affected by thinning. If paint seems to dry
too quickly or "cobweb" before getting to the surface
of the lure, use Retarder Thinner. When using an air
brush, use a larger tip with slightly higher pressure.
When spraying always use a paint-spray respirator.
CAUTION
All Component Systems paints are extremely flammable
and must be used with adequate precaution. Vapors may
be harmful. Always use proper ventilation. KEEP OUT
OF REACH OF CHILDREN. May contain Xylene, Toluene and
other Petroleum distillates.
